How To Stay Safe When On a Steep Roof

In any do it yourself job, safety is of utmost importance. It is even more important when you're working on your roof. Slips and falls are always a concern but it can be more serous when you have a steep roof. Her are some tips on how to stay safe.

Dress For the Job - Wear loose fitting clothes that do not restrict your movement and a rubber soled shoe or boot that has traction.

Weather Check - Be sure to check the weather forecast before attempting any repair on your roof as wet and windy conditions can make you lose your balance.

Ladder Safety - Use a sturdy ladder that can extend at least 3 feat above the eaves of your roof. Make sure you secure the ladder so it doesn't move and cause you to fall. When dismounting from the ladder, use both hands.

Roof Harness - if you have a steep roof, use a roof harness to help secure you to the roof. It usually includes a harness, roof anchor, rope and lanyard so you can adjust the tension of your rope.

If you prefer to stay on the ground, contact us at R&C Roofing Contractors for a no obligation roof inspection. With over 50 years of combined roofing experience, our team can help inspect and repair your roof and help keep you safe!
