Maintaining Your Roof's Health
There are several steps you can take to maintain the life of your roof.
Remove Loose Debris - After strong winds or rain, check your roof and remove any branches, leaves or other debris that can accumulate. Make sure you do this on a sunny day and when your roof is dry.
Inspect and Clean Your Gutters - Your gutter system helps remove water from your roof to avoid moisture and mold buildup. Dirty gutters can shorten the life of your roof so make sure you also clean your gutters regularly.
Regular Roof Inspection - Check your attic and home's ceiling for any stains. This may indicate that water is seeping into your home. Then check your roof for any missing or loose shingles. Also check for moss and mold buildup. If you notice any peeling, curling and partially lifted shingles in various locations, on your roof, this could indicate that the shingles have reached the end of it's lifespan.
