Roof Repair Checklist
To avoid costly repairs, make sure you inspect your roof regularly (at least twice a year) and after any strong winds or storm.
Here's a basic checklist that you can use:
Interior Inspection Checklist - What To Look Out For:
- Sagging ceilings
- Any natural light coming through the roof
- Water leaking into the house
- Dark Spots and water trail sin the house
- Dripping sounds
If you see any or all of these symptoms, you may have some structural damage on your roof.
Exterior Inspection Checklist - What To Look Out For:
This inspection will require that you climb on to your roof. If you are not comfortable doing this, contact a roofing company to help you.
- Moisture or mold and rot as these can mean water damage
- Loose or missing shingles
- Gray patches on asphalt shingles
- Damaged metal flashing
- Wet spots on wood
- Granules or small pieces of shingles in rain gutters
- Check if vents go directly outside the house
- Check gutters and downspouts and ensure that they are free of debris
- Check for any tree branches that are touching the roof as they may puncture the roof's surface
