Winterize Your Roof

Even if we usually don't experience in Hawaii, it's best to keep your roof safe during our winter months. Here are some tips on how to winterize your roof.

Perform a Thorough Roof Inspection. Look for any missing or loose shingles, uneven patches, signs of moss or pests.

Clean Your Roof. Make sure to replace or tighten loose shingles. Consider having your roof power-washed to remove debris and vegetation that may leave moisture on your roof and cause leaks.

Clean Gutters and Downspouts. Clogged gutters can push moisture backward up the roof, potentially damaging shingles.

Trim Tree Branches. If you have a large tree near your house, make sure you trim it regularly to avoid the branches falling onto your roof which can potentially weaken the structure.
